How To Make A Black & Tan

We have moved to affichomanieblog.com!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

If you are really celebrating today it should not be by drinking a green beer.

That's just wrong.

Which is why I'm teaching you how to make a Black & Tan (aka a Half & Half).

What you'll need:

Bass Pale Ale
Guinness Draught Beer
A Pint Glass
A Spoon

Nerdy fact from Bryce: Bass Pale Ale had a number of imitators back in the day that led to Bass' signature red triangle becoming the first ever registered trademark in England. Pretty cool, huh?

Start by pouring your pale ale into your pint glass until it is about half way full. Pour the beer in along the side of the glass so that you don't create a large head. Let it settle if necessary.

Hold your spoon over the top of your glass with the back facing up.  Slowly pour the Guinness over the back of the spoon until full. Beware, this can get messy if you pour too quickly. There is a special spoon for this that I do not possess, but I don't have the correct gadgets for anything and it's never stopped me before!

This big Black & Tan is for Bryce - I made myself a little baby sized one. The drink definitely makes Guinness more palatable if it's not usually your thing.

Let's get real here, there's no way green beer can beat this.
